At PNHF we are dedicated to wildlife conservation and the preservation of our natural heritage. Our mission goes beyond protecting wildlife; we also aim to empower individuals who share our passion for conservation but lack the means to pursue formal education in this field.
In line with this vision, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our Junior Field Ranger Apprenticeship Program, an initiative designed to equip young, passionate individuals with the skills and experience needed to become the next generation of wildlife rangers.
Meet Our Apprentice Rangers
We have selected three young men for this program, each demonstrating a deep commitment to wildlife conservation. Despite their enthusiasm and dedication, they face significant barriers to accessing higher education opportunities in this field. Through our apprenticeship program, they will receive comprehensive training and hands-on experience, ensuring they are well-prepared to take on the responsibilities of a wildlife ranger.
One of our apprentices, Anton, has been volunteering with PNHF for many years. His dedication and hard work have been invaluable to our operations, and we are excited to support his development through this formal apprenticeship. Anton and his fellow apprentices will participate in a variety of training programs over the next two years, each designed to build their expertise and confidence in wildlife conservation.Â

Comprehensive Training for a Noble Cause
Our apprentices are already making significant strides in their training. Last month, they completed First Aid Levels 1 and 2, along with Fire Marshall Training. These courses are crucial for ensuring their safety and preparedness in the field. This month, they have successfully completed an anti-poaching course, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to combat one of the most pressing threats to wildlife.
Over the coming months and years, our apprentices will continue to participate in diverse training programs. From advanced wildlife tracking and monitoring to community engagement and education, they will gain a well-rounded skill set that will enable them to contribute effectively to conservation efforts.
Daily Contributions to Conservation Efforts
In addition to their formal training, our apprentices are actively involved in PNHF’s day-to-day operations. They assist with snare sweeps, helping to remove deadly traps that threaten wildlife, and support various other conservation activities. Their contributions are vital to our ongoing efforts to protect wildlife and their habitats.
